Classroom Driver Safety Course

Our course is unique due to the manner in which our curriculum is presented. We incorporate such things as a Bingo game, a Super Bowl game, a participant report, the best movies available for each topic, and other activities to keep the class lively, involved, and interested.

Our focus is not to entertain, but to help participants reach the goal of Collision Free Driving! We work toward this goal by structuring the class in such a way that the students actually participate and thus learn and retain the material.

Our Safe-Way Driving Centre Driving Safety Course was written in 1988 for the experienced driver. The course was approved by the Texas Department of Public Safety for traffic ticket dismissal and by the State Board of Insurance for the 10% insurance discount that same year.

The course has been revised frequently to incorporate new and innovative teaching techniques. The course stays on the cutting edge of current knowledge of driving safety and how to train effectively.

The Course was developed with one objective in mind - Collision Free Driving! The curriculum is based on the following:

  • Seeing Habits
  • Drinking, Drugs and Driving
  • Restraint Systems in the vehicle (seat belts and air bags)

The Curriculum also includes:

  • Emergency Situations
  • Freeway Driving
  • Night Driving
  • Braking
  • Backing
  • Review of all relevant Texas Traffic Laws

The main emphasis is on the First topic - Seeing Habits! Individuals crash vehicles primarily because they are surprised and they are surprised because they do not have proper Seeing Habits!

  1. Course Requirements
    1. Six hour course: Can be taught in a one day session or a two day program with two-3 hour sessions at your location or one of our locations.
    2. At your location: The class can be taught any day, anytime Monday-Sunday. We must have a minimum of 20 students per class with a maximum of 50. (Example: 8am to 3pm or 9am to 4pm with 45 minutes to 1 hour for lunch) This class will be designated INSURANCE ONLY – cannot be taken for ticket dismissal.
    3. Or, The class can be scheduled at one of our locations and your employees will qualify for both insurance and ticket dismissal credit.

  2. Tuition for course
    1. Price for a session taught at your location is $79.00 per student 20 students minimum required (Insurance Only).
    2. Price for a private session taught at SafeWay is $69.00 per student with a minimum of 20 students required (Insurance or Ticket dismissal).
    3. If class is taught at your location, we will need a LCD projector for power point presentation and DVD, overhead projector and a writing board, with the facility set up classroom style. (We can furnish the overhead if you do not have one).

    1. Call (713) 468-1313 to confirm a date, time, and location.
    2. We normally need 1-2 weeks lead time to schedule an instructor and get the logistics organized.
    3. Once we confirm and set up the course date, we will need a list of the students enrolled for the course. This information should be emailed to us three days prior to class to swdc@safewaydriving.com.
    4. One of your representatives is welcome to observe our course at no charge.
